India and Vietnam are conducting war exercises together
India Vietnam: China practices ‘bullying’ among South Asian countries. In South Asia it dominates the smaller countries. To loosen China’s arrogance, India is conducting war exercises with Vietnam, a country close to China. India has started an 11-day military exercise with the Vietnamese Army in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. The armies of both the countries have started this exercise as part of the growing strategic partnership between India and Vietnam in the backdrop of concerns arising from China’s increasing aggression in the South China Sea.
The Indian Army said the objective of the exercise is to promote cooperative partnership and interoperability. “The joint exercise will help in promoting understanding and interoperability between the two armies and will also further strengthen defense cooperation between the friendly armies,” it said. Due to growing strategic relations, India gifted its serving warship ‘INS Kirpan’ to Vietnam in July.
Vietnam is an important member of ASEAN organization
Vietnam, an important member of ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations), has a territorial dispute with China in the South China Sea region. The military exercise named ‘Winbacs-23’ between the two armies will be held in Hanoi from 11 to 21 December. The Indian contingent consists of 45 personnel, of which 39 are from the Engineer Regiment of the Bengal Engineer Group and six are from the Army Medical Corps.
War exercises take place every year with Vietnam
45 personnel from the Vietnamese Army are also participating in the exercise. Winbax was launched in 2018. Under this, the first joint military exercise was organized in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. It is an annual training program organized alternately in India and Vietnam. Its previous edition was held at Chandimandir Military Station in August 2022.
