Drone attack on 22-member commercial ship in Gulf of Aden, Indian Navy retaliated

Once again a commercial ship has been targeted by attackers in the Gulf of Aden. There were a total of 22 crew members on this ship, including 9 Indians. However, the Indian Navy responded swiftly. It is being told that there was a drone attack on a commercial ship flagged by Marshall Islands in the Gulf of Aden on Wednesday night, after which the Indian Navy retaliated immediately. The officers provided this information. He said that there were 22 crew members on board the ship, including nine Indians. Officials said the Indian Navy’s missile destroyer INS Visakhapatnam responded within an hour of receiving an emergency message from the ship ‘Genco Picardy’. He said the commercial ship was attacked 60 nautical miles south of Port Aden.

He said Indian Navy’s EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) experts visited the ship on Thursday morning to inspect it. Officials said that EOD experts have cleared the ship for onward voyage after a thorough investigation. “INS Visakhapatnam, deployed in the Gulf of Aden for anti-piracy operations, issued an emergency alert regarding Marshall Islands-flagged MV Genco Picardy being in distress following a drone attack at 11:11 pm on Wednesday,” a Navy spokesperson said.
