According to the information, America is going to start a pilot program for domestic renewal for some categories of H-1B visas. This program will start from December. America says that the Indian IT professionals working here will benefit the most from this. America has taken this decision about five months after the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
When Indian PM Narendra Modi went on a state visit to America, work was going on to make the renewal process of H1B visa easier. This program was formally announced during PM Modi’s visit. Deputy Assistant Minister for Visa Services Julie Stifft told the news agency that the demand for US visas among Indians is very high and we do not want the waiting period to be 6, 8 or 12 months.
Visa of 20 thousand citizens will be renewed
Julie Stufft said that they want Indian travelers to get appointments soon. For this, we are starting a Domestic Visa Renewal Program, whose maximum focus is on India.
The pilot program for visa renewal will run for three months. During this period, visas of 20 thousand citizens will be renewed. Julie Stifft said that in the first three months, the visas of 20 thousand citizens will be renewed and most of them will be Indians living in America. Anyway, the largest number of skilled workers in America are Indians.
How will Indians benefit?
Indian-American community leader Ajay Jain Bhutoria has described this decision of the Biden government as ‘important’. Simplifying the renewal process of H-1B visa will benefit about 10 lakh people and a large number of them will be Indians. In 2022, the US government had issued H-1B to 4.42 lakh people. Of these, 73 percent were Indians.
How will the visa be renewed?
Actually, H-1B visa is non-immigrant visa. It allows American companies to hire foreign workers. Whenever a person works in an American company, he is issued an H-1B visa. Till now it used to be that if a person’s H-1B visa had expired then he had to return to his country to get it renewed, but now he will not have to come back home for the renewal process. Staff said that now you can mail your visa while in America and then it will be renewed.
