British Ambassador Marriott visits PoK.
India has taken the visit of the British envoy to Pakistan to PoK very seriously. The central government strongly opposed the British envoy’s visit to PoK, saying it was ‘extremely objectionable’. Let us tell you that British Ambassador in Islamabad Jane Marriott had visited Pakistan occupied Kashmir (POK) on January 10. India has expressed strong objection to this. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement that Marriott’s visit was “highly objectionable” and an act that “violated India’s sovereignty and territorial integrity”. This cannot be tolerated at all.
Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra has lodged a strong protest with the British High Commissioner in India regarding this violation. The Ministry of External Affairs said, the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are, are and will always be an integral part of India. It is noteworthy that after her visit to POK, Jane Marriott had shared pictures on Instagram and said that 70 percent of British Pakistani roots are from Mirpur. The British envoy said. “Salaam is from Mirpur, the center of relations between the people of Britain and Pakistan! 70% of British Pakistanis are from Mirpur, making our work together vital to expatriate interests. Thank you for your hospitality!” His visit also prompted social media users to heavily criticize the British envoy, calling his actions “shameful”.
Demand for action from Rishi Sunak
There was a lot of anger among Indians against the British Ambassador on social media. A large number of users also demanded British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to take action against Jane Marriott. On this matter, India has expressed strong objection to Britain on this issue, calling it a gross violation against India’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Let us tell you that a similar incident took place in October 2023, when US Ambassador to Pakistan David Blom visited Gilgit-Baltistan in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Even then, the central government raised the issue with US officials and reiterated that the entire region of Jammu and Kashmir is an “integral part of India”.
