The Hamas-run health ministry said Friday that the death toll since the beginning of the war had risen to more than 26,000. Israeli forces advanced into the city of Khan Younis in southern Gaza. South Africa, which filed the case, had urged the court to order Israel to stop its military campaign. The top court said it would not dismiss the case in which Israel is accused of genocide in Gaza. The court also rejected Israel’s appeal to have genocide charges dismissed.

More than 64 thousand Palestinians injured

Gaza’s health ministry said on Friday that the number of Palestinians killed since the beginning of the war has reached 26,083, while 64,487 Palestinians have been injured. The ministry did not distinguish between combatants and civilians in the death toll, but said about two-thirds of those killed included women and children. Ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qidra said in a statement that 183 people were killed and 377 others were injured in the past 24 hours.
