Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi News: A Pakistani court has sentenced former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his third wife Bushra Bibi to 7 years in jail after declaring their marriage void. The court ruled that their marriage, solemnized in 2018, was non-Islamic and considered illegal. The court claimed that Imran Khan and his wife had broken the law which stated that a woman must wait three months before remarrying.
The complaint was lodged by Bibi’s ex-husband Khawar Farid Maneka. She said that she got divorced in November 2017, just before marrying Imran Khan. However, Bibi insisted that the divorce took place in August 2017. Bibi and Khan, who were married twice before, denied breaking the three-month waiting rule, which is part of Islamic law and followed in Pakistan.
Currently both Imran and Bushra are in jail
At present both Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi are lodged in separate jails. Currently, Imran Khan is in Rawalpindi’s Garrison City jail, while his wife was allowed to serve her sentence at their hilltop mansion in Islamabad. Bushra Bibi and Imran Khan were recently sentenced to 14 years in prison on corruption charges for keeping expensive state gifts during Khan’s tenure as prime minister. The court allowed Bibi to serve her sentence under house arrest.

According to media reports, Bushra Bibi, formerly known as Bushra Maneka, is a faith healer and ‘spiritual advisor’. She is often seen hiding behind a veil. The report said that Bushra Bibi follows Sufi tradition. Bushra married Imran Khan in a simple ceremony in 2018. Bushra Bibi was born in Pakpattan. The report states that he belongs to a politically influential family.
