Foreign Ministry gave statement on Owaisi’s demand

MEA: The Indian Foreign Minister has responded to AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi’s demand to bring back Indians stranded in Russia. The Indian Foreign Ministry has issued a statement saying that the Indian Embassy is in constant touch with the concerned Russian authorities for the early release of citizens stranded in Russia. Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi had written a letter to India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and the Indian Embassy in Moscow, appealing for help in bringing back Indian citizens stranded in Russia. After this the Indian Foreign Ministry has issued a statement. The Ministry of External Affairs has said in its statement that the Indian Embassy is in constant touch with the concerned Russian authorities for the early release of the citizens stranded in Russia.

Regarding Indian laborers stranded in Russia, the Ministry of External Affairs has said that we are aware that some Indian citizens have signed contracts to work as helpers in the Russian Army. The Indian Embassy is in constant touch with the concerned Russian authorities for his early release. Recently a report came out in which it was mentioned that some Indians were hired to work as ‘helpers’, now they are forced to fight the war against Ukraine. Most of these people are residents of Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir.

Owaisi had made this request

Not only this, Asaduddin Owaisi had also requested the Central Government on Wednesday to take steps to bring back 12 Indian youths who were duped by agents by promising them jobs. Owaisi mentioned the plight of the youth who were taken to Russia with the promise of jobs and were allegedly sent to the war zone on the border with Ukraine.

Youth from many states were taken to Russia in December

Owaisi requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar to hold talks with the Russian government to ensure the safe return of the youth. Hyderabad MP Owaisi, while talking to reporters here, said that youths from Telangana, Karnataka, Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttar Pradesh were taken to Russia in December last year.
