President Muizzu’s Maldives is taking anti-India decisions, India kept the path of dialogue open

maldives: Ever since Mohammed Muizzoo became the President after the presidential elections in Maldives, Maldives has been taking anti-India decisions. President Moizzu wants to send Indian soldiers deployed in Maldives back to India. Amidst such activities, India has kept the path of dialogue open. After Kiren Rijiju, now the Indian High Commissioner held a meeting in Maldives. During this, Indian High Commissioner Mahavar met Maldives Foreign Minister Zameer.

Met the Foreign Minister of Maldives

India’s High Commissioner to Maldives Munu Mahavar on Thursday met Foreign Minister of the strategically important archipelago nation in the Indian Ocean Musa Jamir and held ‘fruitful discussions’ on a special partnership between the two countries. The meeting came days after Maldives’ newly elected President Mohammed Muizzu formally asked India to withdraw 77 Indian military personnel and decided to review over 100 bilateral agreements between the two countries.

Diya Jaishankar’s good wishes message

Sharing pictures of the meeting, Mahawar said on ‘X’, ‘Glad to meet Foreign Minister Musa Zameer. Best wishes were sent by Foreign Minister S Jaishankar. There was a very fruitful discussion on enhancing the special partnership between India and Maldives. Engineer-turned-politician Mohammed Muizzu was sworn in as the eighth President of Maldives on November 17 in the presence of several foreign dignitaries including Rijiju. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju represented the country at the swearing-in ceremony of Mohammed Muizzu as the new President of Maldives.
