Meanwhile, relations between India and Oman are also on a new path. The Sultan of Oman is in Delhi these days and met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday held talks with Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of Oman and discussed enhancing bilateral cooperation in various fields including trade and investment. The Sultan of Oman arrived in Delhi on Friday on a state visit, his first visit to India as the Gulf country’s top leader. External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said in a post on The stage was set for bilateral talks.
Talks held on future cooperation between India and Oman
PM Modi said, “The agenda includes taking stock of bilateral relations and paving the way for future cooperation between the two countries.” Sultan bin Tariq was given a ceremonial welcome in the courtyard of Rashtrapati Bhavan in the morning. Announcing the visit of the Sultan of Oman earlier this week, the Ministry of External Affairs had said, “This first state visit of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq to India is an important milestone in the diplomatic relations between India and the Sultanate of Oman. ”India and the Sultanate of Oman are strategic partners and bilateral trade and investment relations between the two countries have grown over the years.
