This time Putin attended the G-20 digital summit with PM Modi, but Xi Jinping abstained.

Amidst Israel-Hamas and Russia-Ukraine war, India once again organized a digital summit in New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi presided over this program. Russian President Putin also participated in the Digital Summit this time. Whereas President Putin could not attend the physical discussion in New Delhi in September. On the other hand, Chinese President Xi Jinping avoided attending the digital conference also. On Xi Jinping not attending, the Indian Foreign Minister said that it depends on the country as to who will represent it. The conference focused on solutions to the Israel-Hamas conflict, Russia-Ukraine war and many other emerging global problems.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Wednesday said that at the G20 digital summit, many leaders spoke on the Israel-Hamas conflict and called for providing timely humanitarian assistance, not allowing violence to spread and finding a long-term solution to the Palestine issue. Briefing reporters about the G20 meeting held digitally under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Jaishankar said that all 21 members including the African Union, nine guest countries and 11 international organizations participated in it.

This talk happened on Gaza and Ukraine

Jaishankar said that the situation in West Asia, Gaza was discussed in detail in the meeting and to some extent the Ukraine conflict and its consequences were also discussed. This digital summit was also very important because it was the first meeting of world leaders after the conflict started in West Asia. Jaishankar said, “As I said many leaders talked about it. Terrorism was condemned, with deep concern over the loss of civilian lives and discussions were held to provide timely and adequate humanitarian assistance, to prevent the conflict from spreading and to find a long-term solution to the Palestinian issue, he said. Overall, G20 members welcomed the agreement on the release of hostages, delivery of relief material to Gaza and a temporary ceasefire.
