Imran Khan: Imran Khan has reversed his own decision. Taking a U-turn, he has again changed the post of President in his party. The party of jailed former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has once again nominated Barrister Gauhar Khan as the party president. This information has been given in a media report. According to media reports, the party has once again nominated Gauhar Khan as its president, reversing its earlier decision of nominating Barrister Ali Zafar for the top post.

Barrister Gauhar, 45, was elected to the post of chairman of 71-year-old Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) after an inter-party vote held in December last year on the instructions of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). The decision of this election was challenged by some party workers, which was later canceled after a court battle.

Election for the post of President will be held on March 3.

Subsequently, the party was deprived of its iconic ‘cricket bat’ election symbol by the apex electoral body and Gauhar ceased to be the party chief. Gauhar had announced last week that the candidate for the next president of the party is Barrister Ali Zafar and the interim elections for this will be held on March 3. Quoting party sources, ‘Dawn’ newspaper said that Zafar has refused to accept the post of president.

Gauhar Khan nominated as party president

The deadline for submitting nomination papers ended at 3 pm on Sunday and only Gauhar presented her candidature for the top post. The report said that after this the former ruling party nominated Gauhar Khan as the party president. The party’s top post was vacant for more than a month after the ECP and the Supreme Court declared intra-party elections held in December illegal. The party will hold fresh organizational elections on March 3.
