New Delhi: The Congress party has made a big allegation against the central government. Senior party leader Ajay Maken said in a press conference that all types of bank accounts of Congress have been frozen. He said that the Income Tax Department has demanded recovery of Rs 210 crore. Maken also alleged that the bank account of Youth Congress has also been frozen. Ajay Maken said that money was collected through crowd funding in the account of Youth Congress.

Ajay Maken said that democracy has been locked out in India. Day before yesterday we got information that the checks we are issuing are not being honoured. We were told that all our accounts have been frozen.

He said that the account of the main opposition party Congress Party itself has been frozen. The accounts of Congress have not been frozen in the country but democracy has been frozen. He raised the question as to why Congress accounts have been frozen when there is some time left for the elections. Recovery of Rs 210 crore is being made from Congress and Youth Congress. This is the money contributed by the people. This is not rich people’s money.

BJP has all the money from electoral bonds – Maken

He said that this is a lockdown and restrictions on democracy. The Income Tax Department sought recovery of Rs 210 crore from Congress and Youth Congress. This is money collected from online crowd funding. On the other hand, BJP has the entire money from electoral bonds and it is spending it.

A total of 9 accounts of Congress Party were frozen

According to the information, a total of 9 accounts of the Congress Party have been frozen. The day before yesterday, Congress had applied in the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal. Congress Treasurer Ajay Maken had filed an affidavit the day before yesterday and today it was heard in the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal. Congress Rajya Sabha MP Vivek Tankha has appeared on behalf of the Congress.
