Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president YS Sharmila on Wednesday alleged that Congress leaders across the state were detained by the police and put under ‘house arrest’ to prevent their participation in the ‘Chalo Secretariat’ protest proposed on Thursday. Gave. Sharmila said that to avoid her arrest in Hyderabad, she shifted to Andhra Ratna Bhavan, where she would stay overnight to be able to participate in the protests.

PCC President Sharmila reached Vijayawada on Wednesday evening. While he was to stay at the residence of KVP Ramachandra Rao in Ampapuram, Bapulapadu mandal. She was staying at Andhra Ratna Bhavan, the party’s state office, in view of the earlier arrests. She stayed in the party office at night and will leave for ‘Chalo Secretariat’ in the morning. Heavy police deployment was made at Andhra Ratna Bhavan and barricades were put up around the office to prevent Sharmila from coming out.

After this, PCC President Sharmila responded to the detention of ‘X’. He wrote, “If you call for a strike on behalf of the unemployed, will you be put under house arrest? Why are thousands being stopped on party lines? Don’t we have the right to protest in a democracy? Isn’t this a matter of shame? That I am a woman and I have to escape from the police and stay in the Congress party office to avoid detention? Are we terrorists? Or anti-social forces? They are trying to stop us… It seems as if they Are scared! No matter where our workers are stopped or tied to barricades, the struggle in favor of the unemployed will not stop.”
