Farmers’ ‘Delhi Chalo’ movement postponed till 29 February, farmers organization told future plans – India TV Hindi

Chandigarh: Farmer leaders said on Friday that they will decide on February 29 about the next step regarding their ‘Delhi Chalo’ movement. He announced that a ‘candle march’ would be taken out on Saturday and he would burn the Centre’s effigy two days later. Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM) took this decision on Friday evening. Both the organizations are leading the farmers’ movement on various demands including legal guarantee of minimum support price (MSP) for crops. On his call, a large number of farmers are camping on the Shambhu and Khanauri border between Haryana and Punjab.

Farmers will take out ‘Candle March’ on 24th February

Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher, speaking to reporters at the Khanauri border, said, “The next step under the movement will be announced on February 29.” He announced that they will take out a ‘candle march’ on February 24 and the Center on February 26. What are the demands of the farmers?

Thousands of farmers are camping at Khanauri and Shambhu border with tractor-trolleys and trucks to press for their various demands including legal guarantee of MSP for crops and farm loan waiver. Punjab farmers demand implementation of Swaminathan Commission recommendations, pension for farmers and farm laborers, no hike in electricity rates, withdrawal of cases registered with police, ‘justice’ for victims of 2021 Lakhimpur Kheri violence, land acquisition They are also demanding restoration of the Act 2013 and compensation to the families of farmers killed during the 2020-21 agitation.
