Well-known election strategist Prashant Kishore has said that it is very difficult for Congress to cross the 100 seat mark in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. He also said that BJP is unlikely to reach 370 seats in this election, although it can perform very well in West Bengal this time too. When asked whether the Congress would cross the 100 mark in this election, Kishor said he did not see the possibility of a major change in the Congress’s current seat count in the Lok Sabha. He said, “If the number of seats becomes 50-55, it will not change the politics of the country. I do not see any positive change in the election results for Congress. For a big change, Congress will have to cross the 100 mark. “
‘BJP’s goal of 370 should not be considered true’
Kishor, however, said he did not think Congress would cross the 100 mark. “It is very difficult today,” he said. When asked about BJP’s target of winning 370 seats, Kishor said, “BJP has set this target of 370 for its workers. People should not consider this target of 370 as true. Every leader should set a target.” They have the right to do so. If they achieve it then it is great, if they cannot then the party should be humble enough to accept its mistake.”
‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, this is not the right time’
According to him, after 2014, there were 8-9 elections where BJP could not achieve its set goals. Kishore said, “I can say that BJP alone cannot get 370 seats. I consider its chances to be almost zero. I would be very surprised if it happens.” According to Kishor, if an incident like Sandeshkhali happens, it will definitely cause loss for the ruling party. He believed that BJP would not come down from the seats it won in West Bengal in 2019. In the last elections, BJP had won 18 seats in West Bengal. Regarding Congress’ ‘Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra’, Kishor said that this is not the time for the yatra as Lok Sabha elections are very close. (Language)
