President Draupadi Murmu has approved conferring gallantry awards on 80 armed forces personnel, including 12 posthumously, on the eve of the 75th Republic Day. There are 6 Kirti Chakras, out of which three will be awarded posthumously. 16 will be honored with Shaurya Chakra, including two posthumously. Apart from this, 53 Sena Medals, including seven posthumous, one Nao Sena Medal (Gallantry) and four Vayu Sena Medals (Gallantry) will be awarded.

President Draupadi Murmu, while addressing the nation on Thursday on the eve of the 75th Republic Day, said that India is the mother of democracy. During this, he mentioned many issues including democracy, constitution, ISRO, army and youth. President Murmu said that the 75th year of our Republic is in many ways a historic milestone in the country’s journey. The nation is in the early years of the Amrit Kaal and it is a time of epochal change. He told the countrymen that the democratic system is much older than the concept of western democracy, that is why India is called the ‘mother of democracy’.
“India is the first country to reach the south pole of the Moon.”

We have always been proud of our scientists and technologists, but now they are setting higher goals than ever before and achieving the results accordingly. He further said that Nari Shakti Vandan Act will prove to be a revolutionary medium of women empowerment.

On this occasion, the President also praised the players of the country. He said that the players have made the country proud on international platforms. He also expressed hope that Indian players will perform well in the Paris Olympic Games to be held this year also. President Murmu said that women are making an impressive contribution to India’s medals in international competitions, which is a matter of great happiness.
