It is also being said that firing was done on the police with illegal weapons. After this, DIG Kumaon immediately reached the spot and additional police force was also called there. The CM has called an emergency meeting at his residence some time ago and at present the situation in the area is under control.

Home Ministry had to send help

Police have said that the state government has also demanded additional police force from the Home Ministry to handle the violence that broke out in Haldwani. 4 additional companies of central forces of the Ministry of Home Affairs are available with the government. DGP Abhinav Kumar has said that as per the information available with me, many police personnel and administration officials have suffered injuries and have been admitted to hospitals. No casualties have been reported yet. The situation is tense but under control. In the coming days, the people behind the incident will be identified and action will be taken against them.
