Its taste is so strong that everyone from children to the elderly like this dish. The name of the dish we are talking about is Dhokla. Even the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi eats this famous snack of Gujarat with enthusiasm. Let us tell you how to make this healthy and tasty breakfast easily?

Dhokla making ingredients

  1. Chana dal – 1 cup
  2. Gram flour – 1 teaspoon
  3. Ginger-green chilli paste – 1 teaspoon
  4. Sugar – 4 spoons
  5. Baking soda – half teaspoon
  6. Mustard – 1 teaspoon
  7. Sesame seeds – 1 teaspoon
  8. Asafoetida – 1 pinch
  9. Lemon juice – 1 teaspoon
  10. Green chillies cut lengthwise – 3-4
  11. curry leaves
  12. green coriander
  13. Oil
  14. Salt – as per taste

Method to make Dhokla

To make Dhokla, first soak chana dal overnight. In the morning, put the lentils in a mixer jar and grind it coarsely. Now put the lentil paste in a big bowl. Now add 1 spoon gram flour to this paste and mix it well in the batter. After that add ginger-green chilli paste, sugar, salt as per taste, soda and lemon juice to this paste and mix well once again.

Now keep this batter covered for 6 hours so that the batter gets fermented well. After 6 hours, apply oil on a plate with a brush and when it becomes smooth, add batter in equal proportion and spread it well. After this, fill a big pan half full of water and heat it on gas. When it becomes hot, place a small pan in it and place a plate of batter on it, cover it and steam for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, take out the dhokla and cut it into squares with a knife and transfer to another vessel. Now put oil in a pan. When the oil becomes hot, temper it with mustard seeds, sesame seeds, curry leaves and green chillies. After this, spread this tempering on the dhokla and mix well. Your spongy preparation is ready.
