Why is Ben Stokes getting defeated again and again in front of Bumrah?

Jasprit Bumrah vs Ben Stokes: A 5-match test series is being played between India and England. In the first two matches of the series, both the teams have won 1-1 match. Team India’s fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has performed brilliantly so far in this series. He has taken 15 wickets in his name in just 2 matches. During this period, he has troubled England captain Ben Stokes a lot.

Why is Ben Stokes getting defeated by Bumrah?

Former England captain Michael Atherton believes that current captain Ben Stokes is having trouble understanding the pace of Jasprit Bumrah in the five-Test series. Stokes has been bowled twice by Bumrah in four innings of the two Test matches so far. Sky Cricket quoted Atherton as saying that it is difficult to understand Bumrah’s ball speed and I have seen this with Stokes even though Stokes is an excellent fast bowler. He has been hasty regarding Bumrah.

He further said that he is struggling to understand the pace and when Bumrah bowls him out, the ball seems to be low, but Bumrah beats him in terms of pace as well. Bumrah, who took 15 wickets in the first two Tests, took six wickets for 45 runs in the first innings of the second Test and the highlight of his bowling was his yorker to Ollie Pope. Atherton admitted that the batsman could hardly do anything about it. He said this yorker was brilliant, didn’t he? I don’t see what the Pope could have done about it. Let us tell you that India has leveled the series 1-1 by winning the second test by 106 runs. The third Test will be played in Rajkot from 15 February.
