Before the general elections to be held in Pakistan on February 8 next year, a decision of the Supreme Court has given a big blow to all the political parties. This has created panic in Pakistan. A top court in Pakistan has postponed the Election Commission’s decision to appoint bureaucrats as returning officers for next year’s general elections. A war of words has broken out between political parties regarding this.

After this decision of the court, two parties have called it a “conspiracy” to postpone the elections. The Lahore High Court on Wednesday delivered its verdict on a petition filed by former prime minister Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party seeking appointment of executive-affiliated bureaucrats as returning officers (ROs) and district election officers (DROs). The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP)’s decision to appoint him was challenged.

The judge said this

Justice Ali Bakar Najafi of the Lahore High Court said that on factual basis, the “glaring absence of a level playing field” for the political party of the petitioner (PTI) was visible to all and was also seriously noted by several independent groups. Is. “With the top political leadership in jail or going underground, it will be a big question mark for their political party to campaign in elections,” the judge said, referring to Khan and other PTI leaders who are jailed on various charges. The judge said that the apprehension of the petitioner that the ECP cannot conduct free and fair elections appears to be justified as various election officers appointed are currently posted in the administration, in whom the petitioner (PTI) has no confidence.
