Sri Lanka News: On 21 April 2019, one after the other suicide bomb blasts took place in India’s neighboring country Sri Lanka. Around 275 people were killed in this explosion. Its center was Colombo, but when raids were conducted in many areas of the country, explosives were found. This was an extremist attack, in which about 500 people were injured. There were also Indians and other foreign nationals among them. Now as the fifth anniversary of the attack approaches, the Catholic Church of Sri Lanka has made a big announcement. Under this announcement, it has been announced that those who died in the blast will be given the status of saints.

What is the process of being called Christianity?

In Christianity, the Roman Catholic Church decides who should be given the title of saint and who should not. There is a proper process for that too. Verification is done in this process. Till now the Church has considered about 10 thousand people as saints.

Who are called saints?

Talking about Catholic religion, a saint is someone who magically cures major diseases of a patient or performs other miracles. It is believed that such a saint allegedly attains heaven after death.

What happens if someone gets the status of a saint?

In Christianity this process is called canonization. That is, giving the status of a saint to a miraculous or holy person after death. After canonization, the saint’s name is included in the book and is also spoken in meetings.
