Severe cold in Uttarakhand, chances of rain and snowfall from December 30 to January 1

Dehradun: In Uttarakhand, severe cold continues from the mountains to the plains. People’s lives have become completely disrupted. Bonfires have been arranged at various places in the city. In fact, due to north-westerly winds blowing in the state, the cold has started increasing. There are chances of rain and snowfall in some hilly areas of the state on the farewell of the year.

The Meteorological Department has predicted light rain and snowfall in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Pithoragarh and Almora on December 30. In these five hilly districts, there are chances of snowfall only in the areas at a height of more than three thousand meters. According to the Meteorological Department, there are chances of rain after the western disturbance becomes active. Apart from the night of 30th and 31st December, there are chances of rain and snowfall in the hilly districts on 1st January.

Big decision regarding New Year celebration in Uttarakhand

A large number of tourists are heading to the mountains to celebrate the New Year. Advance booking is going on in hotels at tourist places of the state. Meanwhile, the government has ordered all hotels, restaurants and dhabas to open 24 hours. According to this, from December 30 to January 2, all hotels, restaurants and dhabas can be opened 24 hours.

Labor Secretary R Meenakshi Sundaram said that under the Uttarakhand Shops and Establishments (Employment Regulation and Service Conditions) Act-2017, restaurants, hotels, dhabas etc. have been allowed to remain open 24 hours. All establishments are allowed to provide service throughout the day and night, subject to the conditions. (IANS)
